Being well versed in your industry only adds to your job arsenal. Trade shows offer excellent venues to familiarize yourself with the latest and greatest in the industry. Plan to attend the general sessions and educational workshops. These offer unique opportunities to mingle, connect and learn about the latest industry trends from some of the key players and gurus. There, you are likely to meet and network with colleagues, teachers and even possible mentors. These people can give you greater insights into the industry, often lowering your learning curve. Take notes and then share the knowledge you gleaned with your team members. This helps to reinforce what you’ve heard. Also, plan a strategy to follow-up with the contacts you made in these sessions, especially people you feel could be future resources.
